When asked how the family got into the olive oil business, Sandy Schuenemann smiles and says, “I have two passions besides my family; teaching and cooking”. A former teacher, principal and associate superintendent, she has transitioned from teaching students and teachers to educating clients about the healthy benefits of consuming fresh extra virgin olive oil. “We have the entire family involved in the business; my niece Mary Koval is a partner, as well as my son Aaron and his wife, Alecia.” Aaron and Alecia, both long time marathon runners, appreciate not only the exceptional taste of the products, but also the healthy antioxidants gained from consuming them.
From Aaron’s point of view,” It’s obvious that I am a health nut; who runs 26 miles just for fun? So, I am impressed with the fact that I am consuming a product that is both healthy and tastes good. We can offer the consumer the nutritional and chemistry information on our oils so that they can make their own educated decisions about what they purchase, as well as providing them with a product that will enhance the taste of anything they eat. You don’t have to be a chef to use our products; it’s really simple, and we teach you how.” Sandy’s husband Art, a former purchasing manager, handles all of the inventory, orders, building issues and general management of the stores.
